Can SliceAndDice be LinkBacked (not sure of the terminology) with Create?

If not, could we at least have the capability of double clicking the S&D image in Create and have it open the original S&D file for editing, even if we still have to drag it back in manually?

Create does embed the file.

Info -> Object with S&D selected lets you click a button to open the document...

But that only asks me to save it as a file and assign it a name, when it is already saved as a file. It also insists that I save it as only a slice file and not a fully sliced file, so I have to save it once under a different name, make updates, then resave it to the original name. Am I doing something wrong? Plus, I have to go searching for it each time, even if I do save it as the same file name.

Then, why not keep the original somewhere, edit that, and remove the old one from Create, save, drop in the newly edited one?

I think that feature is in case you ship the document somewhere offsite where they do not have access to the original S&D sliced document but need to edit it.

As for saving as slice versus sliced, that might be a bug.

I do keep the originals and I open them and edit and then drag them back into Create, but I was, once again, looking for an easier way and wishing I could double click the S&D image and have it open in S&D.

If I did send the document somewhere else and they opened the S&D image with the button and saved it as something else, it wouldn't do them a lot of good, because besides not being able to save it as a fully sliced image, it doesn't have the link info. It's like a new image with no alt text or link info.

It seems to bring along the URL, alternate text, and javaScript.
Save for Create.... lets you make a SLICED document.

Yeah, you're right. My apologies. I didn't click on the image itself and so it LOOKED like it didn't bring that info over, but it did. Once I clicked on the image, I saw the info. Still, the extra steps of saving to a new file and then resaving ... it's kind of like the old default for publishing in Create, when we had to select the document and then click again to verify that we REALLY wanted to publish over that one. I sure am glad that one changed!

I will continue to open my original files as I have been doing. It's not like it's hard, after all.
