I have 4 buttons across the bottom of my page: One takes me back to the top of the page - link rollover button to "header" image, works fine. But the other buttons also take me back to the top!
In Create they all look ok and will link to what they should, when I save for web they then all appear as the "back to the top" and do just that.
The other buttons are; 1/. a link to an external URL 2/. a link to next page 3/. a link to another web site. They all behave correctly in Create but not when saved for web and openned in Safari.
Am I missing something obvious? I've gone backwards and forwards thru' the book and can't find the answer. Please someone help I'm going mad.

One thing to check is that there are no spaces in your link names - that can break a lot of browsers.

If you want, send me the Create document to info@stone.com and I'll check it out because it's hard to debug from a distance ;-)

Dear Andrew
Thanks for coming back to me re my problem posed on the forum. I have tried attaching my Create document to an email reply - have been trying for 3-4 days- without success. Is there a trick to it? My problem is that all my links work fine in the Create doc. But when I make web pages all of my link/rollover buttons take me to the top of the page. It is only a 2 page site (+ Master page). I don't have a return to the top button. I have a "next" page, a "return" to previous page, 3 external links to other sites and a "mail to". I have opened the site in Explorer, Firefox and Safari - everything fine in all 3 except the buttons don't work the way they should. I did have a "return to the top" link but I have dumped that in trying to cure my problem. If you can suggest a way of sending you the Create doc - other than snail mail please tell me I'd really appreciate your taking a look at it. Meanwhile if you can suggest anything further I can do based on the info' above - terrific.
I'd like to say that I've found Create a terrific suite of easy to learn programmes (having spent a lot of time struggling with Adobe Golive and achieved little).
Regards Carl[/b]

In Finder, select the Create document, and choose "File -> Make Archive of <name of document>"

If you have a .Mac account, you can drop it in your "Public" folder and alert me of your account name.

Theoretically, you should just be able to simply email that .zip archive of the document - didn't that work?

Finally, you might be able to send a "private message" to "andrew" here on the forum, and simply attach the .zip file to that message.

Thanks again for your patience. The problems I had getting My Create doc to you seem be down to my ISP - Wanadoo, I gave finally gave it all to my daughter on a usb key and she was able send it as an archived file with no trouble at all. Look forward to hearing what you have say about the links problem.
Cheers Carl

Ah - I see you are using SliceAndDice for your rollovers - great - but there is one thing you need to know - you have to set the URLs in SliceAndDice before "Saving for Create" and dropping the SliceAndDice.sliced document into Create. I'll edit them and send it back to you "working"!

That sounds great, I await your mended file with eager anticipation - then I'll make my purchase. You wouldn't consider marrying me would you?

New Mexico borders Utah ;-) but my wife would have a fit!

Grab the work here: ftp://ftp.swcp.com/pub/tmp/a/CARL.zip

You should ask your ISP about cgi scripts for <FORM> mailing to finish your contact submission page - each ISP has different solutions for this...

Andrew; OK spurn me I'll just stick with the wife I've had for 35 years - I just wish she was a bigger help to me on this web site design stuff. Thanks v. much for the sorted return of my doc. and the extras you threw in. And the tip you threw in about <FORM>. I've been going through it trying to figure out what you've done that I didn't do. This has thrown up a couple of questions:
1/. I don't know how to name my r/o's with a URL is it just the name of the item i.e. CONTACT and the the program does the rest (like produce a string of what looks like gobblydegook to me) or what? I need point by point instruction on this because I think I must be real stupid.
2/. I see that your returned document doesn't have anything much in the Info pane under 'object' or 'web' whereas I had typed in the name of the object and repeated it under "web' together with other stuff that I thought was making the links (and it did in the doc. (but not as you know when turned into web pages). So your doc. doesn't show me the links which it clearly is making so it is as you say down to the URL naming - back to 1/. above.
I'm sorry to be such windbag p.i.t.a. and sound so dumb but I gotta crack this thing and you're my only hope.
PS. I've been working on Macs since the '80's earning my daily bread publishing two colour monthly magazines with graphic design for major companies on the side I'm hip to Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark et al., so please don't write me off yet.

In Slice And Dice, your LINKS must be spelled out completely, and will be either:

a. A FULL URL like:
http://www.stone.com/Form.html
mailto:sjobs@apple.com

or

b. A page like:
Le_Doublon.html
../index.html // go up a folder to the file
Photos/index.html // go down into a folder to an html file

Now, your question might really be somthing like "How do I name pages in Create so that I know what their URL is in Slice And Dice" - and here is how:

Either Info -> Web, with nothing selected, fill in the top field "Page Title:" - you can use plain English or French, like "Le Doublon" - that would mean that the actual page will be named "Le_Doublon.html" as all spaces and punctuation are replaced by "_" (underscores) and you need to add the .html at the end. So "CONTACT" is CONTACT.html, "My Great Page" is "My_Great_Page.html" etc....

2. You are correct in that Create doesn't "peak into the Slice And Dice file to try and figure out the WEB location assigned in Slice And Dice. In fact, you are correct that's its confusing that the inspector lets you assign URLs but they do not "take" - I'll think about how it would be better in that case.

3. You are tenacious and that's all that counts in the world of computers! You definitely are on the right track, and I'd like to help you over the initial hurdles!

I REALLY need to write a "using SliceAndDiced RollOvers in Create" Tutorial!
