Hi all,

I use the "Create Web Pages" every week to publish to internet simultaneously with printing. It works really well.

The Create menubar for the pages also works with one exception – the HOME button always comes up with a 404.

When I mkake the hyperlink I point to the TOC page in the file because that's the obvious place to go and it works.

I think I tried the index.html a few times and it didn't work for me – basically didn't link for some reason – so I have always used the TOC.

Could this be related to the reason the HOME button doesn't work? I get the very occasional grumble about this so it would be nice to get it sorted.

Here's a link if the above isn't clear:

TIA

Actually, this is something that has been an issue for quite sometime.

What is happening is that either the FTP client you are using or the host you are using doesn't like symbolic links. In my case, RBrowserLite (my FTP client) won't transfer symbolic links.

The best way to fix this is to remove the symbolic link (the original index.html), make a duplicate of the TOC.html, and rename it index.html before uploading.

Sadly, the issue isn't one that can be fixed... mainly because nothing is actually broken. This is one of those things that comes from having all sorts of FTP clients and web servers.

Hope that helps.

Maybe we should ship Create with COPY selected? Anyway, the fix is simple - just set up your Web Options:

Web -> Web Options -> Misc -> index.html Creation "Copy"

Then, click "Save for Future Documents"

Done!

Thanks very much for the "web options" tip.

All working very well indeed now!
