What I would like to do is resize a block of text, like a caption or header, without doing it by point size. For example, long ago and far away, with Adobe ImageStyler, I could type a block of text, then resize it in any direction just by grabbing a handle and moving it. I could make it taller and skinnier, shorter and fatter, anything. It seemed to be resizing it as an image, and not as text sizes. In Create, I can only size the text like in a word processor, bigger or smaller. Yes, I can close up the space between the letters and widen it, but I want MORE than that!

So, I experimented with all the export options and I can do what I want by exporting my text block as an EPS image. I can stretch it in all directions and have it maintain it's clarity. However, it doesn't have a transparent background like a PNG or TIFF, so I can't put my stretched text block on top of another image. But, if I use the PNG or TIFF, when I stretch the text image, it looks terrible, all jagged.

So, I guess I want to know if I can change the size of text in any way other than just enlarging the font size, and if not, how can I get a transparent background on an EPS image?

It seems like I spend a lot of time tweaking the size of fonts to get them to fit a specific box or above an image. Maybe I've missed a trick altogether. Oh, I hope it's something really easy!

If I understand your question correctly, you can use the Info palette to accomplish your task.

1.Select the text box and hit Command + Shift + I (or Tools>Show Info)

2.In the Info box, select the Size Tab

3.Uncheck the Preserve Aspect Ratio checkbox - so you can make the text smaller, thinner, fatter...

4.Use the sliders or up/down arrows or just type in a numerical value to change the size of the text box and the text within.

Hope that's the answer:)

Oh, Daddy! Come to Mama! That is EXACTLY what I'm talking about! And it WAS so easy. Thank you very much! I should have asked a long time ago, but I kept thinking I would find the answer ... and I'm ashamed I didn't find it on my own. It never occurred to me to uncheck that box [cough ... sputter ... moron ...].

Thanks for responding so quickly. I really appreciate it.
