Greetings. The current PhotoToWeb I am using, on a system with 768MB of RAM and 2GB free HD space, consumes all of the memory on my system causing a "sorry your only choice is to power off 'cause I'm out of disk space" crash. It does then if I take a library and set scale, and the library has more than a few dozen photos (like, a few hundred). The recursion seems to eat up gigs of memory.

The root of the issue is that it never remembers the scale. I start new, drag in photos with scale set, then it generates some at the 640 max, but then starts generating full size. So I use Web Scale after it's done,a nd it tries to walk thru the gallery and update those settings and this has only worked with a small number of files.

(No, I am not trying this on my 20,000 gallery -- this is for a website I do for someone. This one has about 500 photos total.)

In a non related bug, if the folder contains only one image, causing the special "Top" (or does it say back?) link page to be made, that link does not honor the html extension -- it hard codes .html, but my gallery is using .shtml, so those single image pages won't work.

Thoughts?

(Also, the gallery program tries to generate the ~.album backup files, too, causing a regen to duplicate each gallery in the final.)

Here's an example of the "Up" issue. Go to this page, and click on "Banquet":

No thoughts, anyone? Am I the only one generating galleries this big? :)

Hi,

I'm not sure about the size issue as I don't have anything that big up - yet :)

However, the HTML issue has a workaround. As you may well know, all you need to do is correct the "up" links (no pun intended) in the original HTML. I'm not sure why the link is not correct, but when I clicked the "up" link on the web page, I got the same error as you reported, because the original TOC is an shtml, but the link is to a non-existent html page.

I've only done about 100 photos so far up to the web with P2W, so nothing too big. Sorry I can't replicate the experience you're having, it works fine for me at this number of photos.

Keep us posted and best of luck!

Russ Conte

Ah, yes, I remember those days when I had a reasonable number of photos.

I'm about to have to bail and switch over to JAlbum. It can chew through 25,000 photos without crashing, sigh. We'll see how that goes. I'm just beyond what P2W can handle, I guess.
