Hi Andrew,
after having used Create for some days now I can tell which things I miss most:

- exact guide placement
Currently the only way (?) to place guides "exactly" is to zoom in and watch the numbers as I drag the guide. It would be convenient to have an option to enter the guide distance numerically- if possible even with the option to place more than one guide at a time.

- configurable shortcuts
Ok, maybe this is just my learning curve, or old habits (or age?), but I would find it convenient to adapt keyboard shortcuts to the ones my fingers already know. Like "space" for panning (*is* there a panning tool shortcut?), "space-cmd" for rectangle zoom-in etc.

Nothing serious, of course- Create is a great tool whatever comes from these suggestions.

Lutz

Hi pietschker,

I posted a similar question a while ago concerning the exact positioning of guidelines, and it was taken care of very well by Daddydooda and Andrew:

http://www.stone.com/stoneforum/viewtop ... ght=guides

You have (as far as I know) 2 possible options in the Create menus to position guidelines:

    1) Choose Format => Auto Guides... : here you can define guidelines for column- or table-based layouts (guidelines @ regular intervals)

    2) Choose Scripts => Guides => Add Any Guides ... : here you can any horizontal or vertical guideline you want

I hope this helps !

Fille

I have set keyboard shortcuts in the OS X system preferences for things I do in Create and other applications. I am like you and find my fingers trying to do the same commands for things across different applications. If you go to your System Preferences--Keyboard & Mouse--Keyboard Shortcuts, you can set shortcuts for specific applications. The weird thing is that they don't show up in the menus in Create. When I first set up some shortcuts, I thought they didn't work because I didn't see the shortcut in the menu in Create, but they did and do work, so ... go figure.

Also - panning - the Mighty Mouse scroll button should work.

And in Tools-Thumbnails you can drag the pan box where you want to go.

Thanks for the replies- seems there are a lot of functions I still need to learn about (nothing surprising there :-).
Still, panning in the main window is more convenient than moving the cursor to a different windows (I use a tablet, not a mouse). When working on graphics my most-used function sequence is pan, zoom in, <do complicated things>, zoom out, pan etc etc. Maybe I should get accustomed to a more organized way of working.

I have an old Wacom Tablet and because Zoom In/Out have keystrokes I can map these to the buttons on the side of my pen. Makes for very quick zooming. If I have Page Thumbnails displayed and have Zoomed in and want to pan all I do is touch the edge of the Zoom Box and move it around, click and move with a mouse. You have to use the edge of the box to move it otherwise it is thought you are trying to drag out a new Zoom Box. Very fast and covers a wide range of input devices.

If anybody wants to alter the way their Mighty Mouse works for Create you could try USBOverdrive.

I agree that numeric placement of guides would be great. If there were some way to nudge the guides a pixel/point/whatever at a time, that would be a good alternative.

Format -> AutoGuides

Row: 1
Column: 1

Top: YOUR EXACT PLACEMENT IN ANY UNITS
LEFT: YOUR EXACT PLACEMENT IN ANY UNITS

Also, zoom in if you want more precise via GUI.
