I looked through the discussion on tables and I've tried some of the suggestions, but honestly I'm just not thrilled with any of the current table options. I am using Create for print, not the web (or I would hand build my own), and I want these to look good. I need to be able to straddle columns and rows on occasions.

Has anybody found a good tool for building tables, where the tables look really good? So far the best option I have found is to use OmniGraffle and build them there, then import the table into Create, but that has it's own set of issues (time consuming).

On Tiger, Format -> Text -> Table... lets you insert and nest tables, as well as resize, color, border width, border color, align horizontal and vertical, split and merge cells. Didn't this work for you?

And you can simply use the LinkBack from Omni stuff to Create as well...

I'll play around with this some more, but it wasn't as elegant as I wanted. That's kind of why I went with OG. OF course as I said the problem there is it's much more time consuming (but the results are very pleasing to the eye).
