I've submitted a manuscript to a major publisher including figures generated in Create, saved as jpeg, and they are having trouble opening them. Suggestions??

JPEG's? that's too low of resolution really.
Why not export to PDF?

Or at least if you need bitmaps, do TIFFs at 300 DPI - see prefs...

Neil,

A few ideas to track down:

1. Do the jpeg files have the standard .jpg file identifier? Windows usually needs these file endings in order to open the files directly.

2. Have they tried going about it the other way - first opening the program and then opening the jpg files from within the program?

3. Are they trying to open the jpg files individually, or are they imbedded in document (MS Word, etc.)? If they are unable to view the embedded jpg files, then I suspect the problem is with that program, and not with Create. Make sure you tell the program to save embedded files with the document (prepare doc for portability, etc.). Some programs only link to external graphics unless you specifically tell it to embed them.

4. Try sending them the jpg files separately. Can they paste them into the document?

Let us know what works!

Roger: when I try to add .jpeg to file title I automatically get .cre8 tagged on after it - is that a problem?

How are you saving the JPEGs?

I select jpeg from the right hand corner of my create file and then click "save" or "save as" and give the file a name and click save.
If I attempt to inlcude .jpeg in the file name I get a window saying no can do, must use .cre8. will accept .jpeg in file titel as long as .cre8 is last item in the file name.

Neil,

As far as I understand,

1. You are selecting JPG from the Image Well.
2. The Image Well does NOT determine the Save As... file format.
3. To use the Image Well:
a. Select the items you want to Export
b. Drag from the Image Well (where it says, JPG, PDF, etc.) to the location where you want to save the file (a folder in the Finder, another document, the Desktop, etc.)

If you need more information, do a search in Create's Help for "Image Well" and you'll find several pages of help.
