Hi -- first of all, I LOVE Create. It's awesome. I made up my 16 page newsletter, saved it to pdf, and it was awesome.

Right up to the point where I was ready to send it to someone for proofreading and....the stupid pdf file is 45 MB big. 45 MB!!!! No email server on earth will send it!! How did it get that big? I have some pictures in it, but none of them are gigantic or anything. Is it seriously that big because of a few pictures?

Is this some strange thing or does anyone have any ideas about how to reduce the size of the thing? Are there any settings anywhere to reduce it down? I just cannot comprehend how I can be at 45MB.

help!

There are three basic ways to reduce the file size of PDFs exported from Create. (I'm sure there are many other ways, but these are the ones I find easiest to use.)

1. Within Create, Size and Crop your photos and clip art, then drag in a jpg or png from the image well, and delete the original image. If your original photo is 2MB, the entire 2MB is saved to the PDF. But your modified jpg will only be about 1/10 of that.

2. Use Stone's PStill to reduce the file size.

3. Open your finished PDF in Preview, Save As, and choose Reduce File Size from the drop down menu. This will produce nice results for on-screen viewing, but printing of photos may be unacceptable.

I hope you find one of these options useful!

Also, if you PASTE images into Create, you'll get the FULL TIFF info - and these are not compressed. Drag in Images to keep size down.
OR scale them down, and use the scaled down version if you don't need the full resolution.

Get PStill for making TINY PDF's for proofing! Then you can have hi-rez and small PDF when needed:
