When I drag a JPEG from the image well, and nothing is selected, I seem to get more or less exactly what I see.

When I drag out a TIFF, though, I get an image that's only as big as the objects in the document (even if the page width and height is larger), and doesn't include background images on objects or the page at large. This seems wrong — the output should be just like the JPEG, just not compressed.

Or am I missing something? I know these background images are left out of PDFs if the Print checkbox is cleared, but I have those checked here.

So, since that's the way it works and it does give more possibilities, I simply:

1. Deselect all and drag out as PDF
2. drop into a new document and drag out as TIFF

Lossless, but confusing. Why should the image well work differently in different formats? It seems to me that every non-Create format should give you the same stuff (within what they support -- so JPEGs would never have transparency like PNGs do, but otherwise the dimensions of the resulting image would be the same). You're the boss, of course, but that's my take.

Anything dragged from the Image Well using Leopard looks jagged to me and I have had to resort to other apps because of this.
