I'm glad you asked - first off, if I'm not "in" - you can always search for Videator and read up on it here:

http://www.stone.com/NewSincePB1.html

But, the answer is:

Since most people don't have multiple cameras AND since the old way delivers images much quicker than the new "Use Quicktime Capture", we turned that advanced feature off by default.

Just go to Preferences -> Movies/Video and select "Use QuickTime Capture" and make a new window - Voila - the new features are there!

One more thing...

means quicker that ther is a lower delay between the live input and the mixed output?

Yes, I've noticed a bit of latency when using the Quicktime Capture as opposed to the old-fashioned SeqGrabber style of getting Video.

This might be because we don't exclusively hog the camera - I'll try and check this out later.

What is a good camera for an amateur photographer? My wife is wanting a new "good" camera for her birthday. She has a pretty good Sony point and shoot camera, but I think she is wanting something a little better. Can anyone recommend a decently priced camera? Thanks.

How much do you want to spend?

Canon SD 990 IS is what a friend loves. Small, great pics, waits for people to open their eyes!

What is the best camera for an amateur who can't spend too much money? I ordred a proffesional camera from E-Bay, and when it came in, it did not even work! I guess that's E-Bay for you. We are in the process of returning it. In the meantime my husband was able to get me a camera at a low cost from where he works, but it is only a small digital camera. The pictures I have taken with it are still not as good as I would have hoped, regardless of how the subject is posed and the angle I am shooting at. I understand about trying to photograph in the early morning and late evening to acheive the best lighting. But the colors are still not very bright and the picture not very sharp. Do I really just need to get a more professional camera to acheive this, or is it possible to get good quality photos from a cheap camera with the right experience? What type of camera would you recommend for an amateur photographer, when we really can't afford the thousand dollar ones?

Older firewire DV cameras work great - I have a Canon ZR 40 I use with Videator at events that require zooming
