Nothing against Stone, but "major"?
I can think of a few examples where a software company still exists but gave up on a product in order to focus on another.
I'm not saying it's right, and in some cases promises were made to continue development that were not kept, which was pretty crappy, but it does happen elsewhere.
I would count companies such as Adobe and Macromedia as major, and I can think of a few apps each abandoned. Macromedia pretty much abandoned Freehand long before they sold out to Adobe, for example.
Create is still the tool of Stone Works I use the most, and for now, it still works for me. Will he fix it if it breaks with Mountain Lion? We'll see. But I do miss the frequent updates based on feature requests. That was fun. Also, he has moved iMaginator and Videator to the Mac App Store, FWIW.
I hope he at least keeps Create alive. I don't know of anything that works like it does.
