Document Window: Ruler

To display vertical and horizontal rulers, choose Format->Show Rulers (Command-R). If the rulers are already visible, you can hide them by choosing Format->Hide Rulers (Command-R).

To set the units on the rulers, select a measurement unit from the Format->Units submenu.

By default, the horizontal ruler leaves blank space for the text formatting tools that are available while editing text. This uses more screen space, but avoids the drawing area resizing that occurs when editing text. To eliminate this space when text is not being edited, choose Hide Text Ruler area when not editing from the
Tools pane in Preferences (Create->Preferences->Tools).
